The Lemoyne Family is happy to have great pediatric care close to home. |
A mother’s intuition rarely fails. When 17-month old Belle woke up crying in the middle of the night with a fever, Judith Ann knew something was wrong. The toddler had been running a temperature off and on with no other symptoms, but this July night was different.
“My wife felt something wasn’t right,” remembers Rich Lemoyne of Lady Lake. “We woke our four-year-old son and all headed to the nearest emergency room. By the time the family reached the Hospital, Belle’s fever had climbed to 104 degrees and she was having chills. Thankfully, she was admitted to the region’s largest dedicated pediatrics unit – which is at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
Being admitted to a hospital in the middle of the night is not easy at any age, and it’s especially difficult for parents who are watching their young child get treated. “The Pediatrics staff and nurses were extremely accommodating and helped us through this severe urinary tract infection,” says Rich. “They went above and beyond what we expected and made sure we understood everything that was being done for Belle.”
The 12-bed acute care Pediatric Department at LRMC provides Level 2 Care, which means young patients are continually assessed and observed by the fully dedicated team of pediatric hospitalists.
