Interventional Cardiology

Leesburg Regional's Interventional Cardiologists perform thousands of diagnostic and interventional procedures each year in our three state-of-the-art integrated catheterization labs. We offer the latest breakthroughs in coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and peripheral vascular disease interventions.

Interventional techniques involve the use of catheters to place life-saving devices in the heart and arteries. The techniques are less invasive than surgery and require shorter recuperation times.

Our team performs more than 3,000 diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary interventions each year, and offers the latest treatment options, including:

  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), a new, less invasive method for replacing diseased aortic valves.
  • Coronary balloon angioplasty and stenting (also referred to as percutaneous coronary intervention or PCI), which open obstructed areas in the coronary arteries.
  • Leading-edge integrated diagnostic procedures such as Fractional Flow Reserve and Intravascular Ultrasound.
  • Cardiac catheterizations performed using the radial artery (wrist) and pedal artery (ankle) as a safe alternative to accessing the femoral artery.
