Learn More About Our Clinical Trials |
More than 200 Floridians a day are diagnosed with cancer, and many must seek treatments miles away from their homes. The wait for a comprehensive cancer center in The Villages, however, is over. The Moffitt Cancer Center at The Villages Regional Hospital is now open as a comprehensive care model that incorporates exceptional services under one roof.
The Center, which is located on the hospital’s campus in a new wing of the Sharon Morse Building, works with our local Moffitt affiliated physicians and oncologists to improve cancer treatment outcomes and increase the availability of advanced cancer care treatment options. With a comprehensive approach it will enable researchers and the treatment team to identify and meet all the needs of patients and their families during not only a patient’s lifetime, but for future generations.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be frightening and overwhelming, and deciding where to seek treatment has been a difficult task for many people in our community who are not able to drive long distances. Now that task may be less daunting as the Moffitt Cancer Center brings its experience and commitment to The Villages. Moffitt’s interdisciplinary team approach and its services are unique to this community and will provide the highest level of cancer care in this region.
A nurse navigator will be assigned to each patient to provide one-on-one support from the first weeks of diagnosis through recovery and remission. Nurse navigators serve as educators, advocates and friends who provide compassionate care.Below, we are pleased to offer several educational articles from the Moffitt Cancer Center for your benefit.
